Haven’t cooked since last wednesday – so I was really hungry for my favorite steak – Filet Mignon! I saw this recipe for the sauce in CL, and I just had to try it. I am not a fan of mustard, or any condiments , but this sauce tasted awesome and did not taste like mustard at all!
First – I cut up a mixture of sweet potatoes and yams , and roasted them in the oven, @ 425 with just some OO, Salt, Pepper, and some Tastefully Simple Garlic Garlic sprinkled on top.
Then I started with my sauce for my steak.
1 shallot cut up in small pieces
1/2 cup of shiraz
1/2 cup of beef broth
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
Saute shallots in a small amount of OO. Add Shiraz and deglaze sauce pan. Once reduced add beef broth, once that is reduced add the mustard – Voila – sauce that taste JUST like a restaurant!
For the Filet’s – I sear all sides in a sauce pain, then put in the broiler for about 5 minutes for medium. I complimented the meal with a spinach salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, shallots, and queso fresca cheese ( I have a ton of it because mike bought a wheel of it at sams club LOL )
While the steaks are in the broiler, I saute the spinach in OO , garlic, a few red pepper flakes and a dash of nutmeg – Delish!
